The 2024 FW de Klerk Foundation’s Annual Conference commemorates the anniversary of the speech by FW de Klerk that initiated South Africa’s constitutional transformation process.
On Friday, 14 July, the FW de Klerk Foundation, supported by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung South Africa (KAS), hosted a conference on property rights at The Bryanston Country Club in Johannesburg.

We were pleased with the turnout at the Inaugural FW de Klerk Memorial Lecture, which took place on 11 November 2022 at The Westin Hotel in Cape Town. It was a pleasure and privilege for the Foundation to have Lord Renwick of Clifton KCMG, former British Ambassador to South Africa, as the keynote speaker at the event and present him with the FW de Klerk Memorial Lecture award on the night.
In keeping with this year’s theme of: “Take action; inspire change; make every day a Mandela Day”, staff of the FW de Klerk Foundation donated their 67 minutes to a community project in Cloetesville, Stellenbosch.
FW de Klerk Foundation Annual Gala Dinner 2013
Former president FW de Klerk is the patron of the Nedbank South African Charity Golf day. The annual event raises funds for selected charities including Starfish Greatheart’s Foundation, the FW de Klerk Foundation, Foodbank, Warwick in Africa, the Cipla Foundation and Afrika Tikkun.
On 24 July 2013, Minister of Home Affairs, Naledi Pandor, visited former president FW de Klerk to hand over his new Smart ID card. This follows the official launch, which took place on 18 July.
