The Centre for Constitutional Rights (the CFCR) celebrates International Human Rights Day which, unfortunately, also signals the end of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign.
In commemorating International Anti-Corruption Day, the Centre for Constitutional Rights (the CFCR) calls on every South African to insist on a multi-party system of democratic government that is accountable, responsive and open, and a government, private sector and society that takes a zero-tolerance approach towards acts of corruption.
On 5 December 2014, Centre for Constitutional Rights (the CFCR) and the School of Public Leadership at Stellenbosch University, with the financial support of the Konrad Adenhauer Foundation (KAS), hosted the fourth and final event for 2014 in a series of constitutional discussions.
When will the President be answering questions in the National Assembly again?
December 3 marks the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
The Centre for Constitutional Rights (the CFCR) welcomes, in principle, a judgment delivered by the Constitutional Court in which it confirmed that the South African Police Service Act 68 of 1995 as amended (the Act), was still inconsistent with the constitutional obligation to create a structurally and operationally independent anti-corruption unit.
South Africa, by virtue of section 1 of the Constitution, is a democratic state founded on, among others, the value of “a multi-party system of democratic government, to ensure accountability, responsiveness and openness“.
Every year from 25 November to 10 December – 16 days in total – the world comes together to advocate for a pandemic that affects millions of women and girls across the globe: domestic violence. The movement is called “16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence”. Governments, international organisations, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), civil society organisations, faith-based organisations and individuals rally together during this period to raise awareness about gender violence in their communities.
