The FW de Klerk Foundation has learned that international students may be prevented from studying at South African universities by the Department of Home Affairs’ new immigration policies.

In a speech on the evolution for property rights since 1994, FW de Klerk warned Government against taking any action that would destroy the carefully constructed agreements on property rights that are contained in section 25 of the Constitution.

She was a giant of South African literature and was a prominent critic of apartheid before 1994. She continued to be critical of unconstitutional behaviour from any quarter in South Africa and was particularly opposed to any steps that might limit the freedom of the press.
In 1996, Eugene de Kock, the former commanding officer of the C1 counter-insurgency unit of the South African Police, was tried and convicted on 89 charges and sentenced to 212 years in prison.He subsequently applied for amnesty for these crimes from the Amnesty Committee of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
