The FW de Klerk Foundation welcomes this development to end the conflict in the Middle East. We commend the role President Trump, Qatar, Egypt and Türkiye played in brokering a ceasefire framework that will allow for the swift release of all hostages held in Gaza and the Israeli withdrawal to an agreed point and the release of Palestinian prisoners.

The Foundation supports the call by the Secretary-General of the UN that all concerned abide fully by the terms of the agreement. It also calls for all hostages to be released in a dignified manner, a permanent ceasefire to be secured and that fighting must stop once and for all.

The Foundation also appeals for the immediate and unimpeded entry of humanitarian supplies and essential commercial materials into Gaza. The suffering has continued for too long and must end.

The reconstruction of Gaza must be supported by the whole world and a credible political path must be embarked upon towards the establishment of a two-state solution to enable Israelis and Palestinians to live in peace, fairness and security.
