In delivering his keynote address on “The role of universities in cultivating leadership”, Professor Botman provided great insights into the role universities should be playing in ensuring the development of young people who will be able to lead within the context of our constitutional values. In this regard, he aptly stated that “it [was] no longer enough for universities to just provide graduates with good academic qualifications. We are working to develop well-rounded thought leaders who are committed to ploughing back into society; who will build this country and make it the kind of place it should be.”
As a tribute to Professor Botman and his contribution to our constitutional democracy, we thought it prudent to publish his keynote address in full.
