Professor Wiechers will be remembered by us and the nation for his intellect, his nuanced understanding of the South African landscape and his unrelenting commitment to our constitutional democracy. He played an valuable role as an adviser to the CFCR. His passing leaves a gap among principled constitutional democrats working to ensure that the constitutional premise of social justice becomes a reality for all South Africans.
We salute a great South African and honour his heritage.
