The new Centre for Unity in Diversity (CUD) will:
- support cultural, linguistic and religious rights, and work for national unity;
- monitor developments that might affect inter-community relations;
- oppose discrimination from any quarter; and
- participate in the national debate on inter-community relations and the rights of cultural, religious and linguistic communities.
The theme of the launch conference is “Unity in Diversity: A Roadmap towards understanding Reconciliation”, with keynote speeches by former President FW de Klerk, Ms Rhoda Kadalie, Executive Director of the Impumelelo Social Innovations Centre, and Adv George Bizos, Senior Counsel at the Legal Resources Centre.
