With next week’s local municipal elections around the corner South Africans are gearing up towards exercising their constitutional right to vote. Follow a recent discussion between the FW de Klerk Foundation’s Chairman, Mr Dave Steward, and Adv Mark Oppenheimer, from the Johannesburg Bar Council, about what this means, matters incidental thereto as well as the relevance of a recent Constitutional Court ruling in which the court dismissed an application brought by the Democratic Alliance to declare the Electoral Commission of South Africa’s (IEC) decision to reopen candidate registrations unlawful and invalid.
