The FW de Klerk Annual Conference – hosted in conjunction with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung – took place at the President Hotel in Cape Town on 31 January 2025.

Held in commemoration of the 35th anniversary of the speech by FW de Klerk that initiated South Africa’s constitutional transformation process, the theme of this year’s conference was “South Africa’s Position in the World Today”.

Esteemed speakers included Ambassador Andreas Peschke (Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany); Magda Wierzycka (CEO of Sygnia); Dr Harlan Cloete (Local Governance and Public Leadership – Research Fellow) and Johan “Rassie” Erasmus (Springbok Coach).

During the course of the event Rassie Erasmus was also presented with the FW de Klerk Goodwill Award for promoting goodwill in South Africa.
