Issued by the FW de Klerk Foundation on 09/06/2025
The FW de Klerk Foundation is pleased to have Amirah Hassim on board as an online intern.
We recently sat down with her to learn more about her background and goals for the internship…
FWDKF: Why did you want to intern with the FW de Klerk Foundation?
AH: To learn from South Africa’s constitutional journey, absorb what the country truly needs and carry that knowledge into my future work and leadership.
FWDKF: What do you hope to achieve/learn during the internship?
AH: To gain real insight into policy and governance, understand how change is shaped and grow into someone who can contribute meaningfully to South Africa’s future.
FWDKF: What is your background, country of origin, and research focus?
AH: I’m South African, with an Honours degree in International Business from Regent’s University London. My research focused on sustainable energy, as well as infrastructure and energy development within South Africa to support economic growth and reduce load shedding.
FWDKF: What are your career ambitions?
AH: I want to lead projects in infrastructure, energy and innovation that drive real change in South Africa, while building ventures that align business with national development goals.
