Alia is a filmmaker, director, producer, published author and creative entrepreneur with a Bachelor of Arts in Motion Picture from AFDA Cape Town, where she graduated cum laude in Producing and Directing.

 

With experience spanning film, branded content, marketing and production, Alia has always been passionate about using storytelling to connect with people and create meaningful conversations.

 

Alia is also the author of RIOT, a historical novel inspired by the 1949 Durban riots. The experience deepened her interest in South African history, identity and the role storytelling can play in helping young people better understand the society they are part of.

 

At the FW de Klerk Foundation, Alia hopes to combine her creative background with her passion for constitutional literacy, youth development and education. She is particularly excited about using film, social media and short-form content to make constitutional rights and civic education more engaging and accessible to young South Africans.

 

Looking ahead, Alia hopes to build a career that brings together storytelling, entrepreneurship and social impact creating work that entertains, educates and empowers the next generation.
