Like many observers inside and outside South Africa, the FW de Klerk Foundation is very concerned about the mounting threats to property rights. We have accordingly decided to hold a conference on the Future of Property Rights to consider:
- the legislation involved;
- the degree of protection that property rights still enjoy in terms of section 25 of the Constitution;
- the implications for the commercial agricultural sector of the reopening of restitution claims and various proposals for land reform; and
- the implications for business and the economy should there be any concerted attempt to further dilute property rights.
