Topic: Xenophobia and South Africa
The South African Constitution obliges the State to protect the rights of all who live in the country. The Roundtable Discussion will discuss the recurring waves of xenophobic violence in the country, the South African government’s response to it and gaps in policing. The discussion will also seek to find methods to effectively address the attitudes and perceptions towards foreign nationals who have made their livelihoods and homes in South Africa for various reasons.
