FW DE KLERK FOUNDATION ATTENDS LAUNCH OF “OUR SHARED HUMANITY IN ACTION” EXHIBITION
Issued by Ismail Joosub on behalf of the FW de Klerk Foundation on 30/10/2024
The FW de Klerk Foundation was pleased to attend the Nelson Mandela Foundation’s launch of the exhibition “Our Shared Humanity in Action: Reflecting on the United Nations Special Committee Against Apartheid” on 29 October 2024. This event highlighted the enduring importance of global solidarity and cooperation in advancing human dignity and justice.
The evening’s speakers, including Dr Naledi Pandor, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Nelson Mandela Foundation and Ambassador Abdul Minty, South Africa’s representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency, emphasised the need for collective action to transform ideals of justice and empathy into tangible realities.
“The lessons of the past are critical for South Africa’s youth. Understanding the power of international solidarity strengthens their role in protecting the constitutional values of dignity, equality and freedom,” said Ezra Mendel, an intern in the FW de Klerk Foundation’s Constitutional Advancement Programme.
Ismail Joosub, Manager of Constitutional Advancement, reflected on the shared legacies of both foundations: “The FW de Klerk Foundation and the Nelson Mandela Foundation are bound by a common commitment to uphold the Constitution and build a future based on the principles of shared humanity. Our collective histories remind us that our work is ongoing and we must continue striving to create a more just and equal society.”
The FW de Klerk Foundation remains dedicated to fostering dialogue, learning and cooperation as we reflect on our constitutional journey and global citizenship.
