Human Rights Report Card Event GalleryThe FW de Klerk Foundation hosted an event to review its annual Human Rights Report Card. The Report considers the manner in which the State is meeting its obligations in terms of section 7(2) of the Constitution to respect, promote and fulfill the rights in the Bill of Rights. It also takes into account the foundational values in section 1 of the Constitution and – in particular – adherence to the rule of law and the supremacy of the Constitution on which all the rights in the Bill of Rights ultimately depend. |

FW de Klerk Foundation: 2023 Annual ConferenceThe FW de Klerk Foundation and Konrad Adenauer Foundation are proud to have presented this year’s FW de Klerk Foundation Annual Conference at The President Hotel in Bantry Bay, Cape Town on 2 February. The conference focused on the theme of “Defending the Constitution”, and was described by Gregor Jaecke, SA Representative of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, as an opportunity “to reset our sights from the political trenches to the political heights this country is capable of.” |

Inaugural FW de Klerk Memorial LectureWe were pleased with the turnout at the Inaugural FW de Klerk Memorial Lecture, which took place on 11 November 2022 at The Westin Hotel in Cape Town. It was a pleasure and privilege for the Foundation to have Lord Renwick of Clifton KCMG, former British Ambassador to South Africa, as the keynote speaker at the event and present him with the FW de Klerk Memorial Lecture award on the night. |

FW de Klerk Foundation Annual Gala Dinner 2017On Wednesday, 1 February 2017, the FW de Klerk Foundation hosted its Annual Gala Dinner, in commemoration of former President De Klerk’s historic 2 February 1990 speech. Guests watched a presentation outlining the Foundation’s activities for the year, with the Loyal Toast delivered by Mayor Patricia de Lille. |

FW de Klerk Foundation Annual Gala Dinner 2015This year’s Gala Dinner marked 25 years since former President FW de Klerk delivered his historic 2 February 1990 speech to Parliament. Highlights of the Gala Dinner included the presentation of the 5th FW de Klerk Goodwill Award to Afrika Tikkun, the announcement of new Chairman for the FW de Klerk Foundation and wonderful toasts by Pieter-Dirk Uys and Mayor Patricia de Lille. |

FW de Klerk Foundation Annual Gala Dinner 2014This year’s gala dinner – held in celebration of the 24th Anniversary of FW de Klerk’s Speech in Parliament – was themed: “South Africa at 20: The Need for Real Transformation”. Highlights of the evening included awarding the FW de Klerk Goodwill Award to Mr Patrice Motsepe, performances by the Gugulethu Tenors and a charity auction by Ariella Kuper of Clear Asset. |
