Lulekwa Mcwabeni is an accomplished ICT data and information specialist with more than 20 years’ experience in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector. She founded a consulting company specializing in enterprise architecture and data management solution. Her passion for data and mentoring women within ICT started at an early age. By the time she completed matric, she knew she was cut out for a career in information technology. 

After spending years in the field acquiring experience, she enrolled to study and completed a master’s in technology in Business Information Systems at Tshwane University of Technology in 2014. She wakes up every morning with one goal in mind to empower others to get to another level of not just understanding what information is needed but to go beyond that, to build innovate data driven systems that will provide solutions to the social challenges. Before starting her company, Mcwabeni was an independent information technology consultant in the banking, telecommunications and mining sectors.

She is currently mentoring young women in ICT sector, and she is passionate about making an impact in the disadvantaged communities. Lulekwa Mcwabeni was nominated by Sunday World for Gauteng province as a 2021 Heroic Women under the category of Women in ICT and Science because of the work she is doing within the industry of promoting young women and mentoring them through out their journey. She contributed to the ICT industry by writing articles for ITWeb in different data topics. Currently, the company she founded, is involved in training the young women through the learnership programme. She participated in the UN women train the trainer training in Tanzania 2022 to train at least 2million young girls in robotics and computer literacy skills.
