Dirk Mudge

Dirk Mudge was, during the past 60 years, a giant in the political history of South-West Africa/Namibia. Originally a member of the National Party, he was one of the first white politicians to reach out to the other population groups of the territory. He was a founder and chairman of the Turnhalle Constitutional Conference in 1975 - and later of the DTA - and became Chairman of the Ministers’ Council in 1980. He played a positive role not only in the political history of Namibia - but also made a mark on the constitutional development of the whole of southern Africa.
I would like to convey my deepest condolences to his family and friends.
